Creating Sacred Space

Debra's recent writings focus on creating sacred space at home in "Room to Meditate."  "Scents for the Soul," describes her experiences with French perfumers in Grasse and the power of scents to create moods and memories.  "Not Just for Kids," presents living childhood dreams in luxury treehouses from Rome to New York, and "Oasis of Gems" includes Pritzker Prize winning architect Jean Nouvel's design of the new Louvre in Dubai and Zaha Hadid's Music Center for European magazine of lifesytle and adventure, Hors Ligne (Beyond the Limits).

Debra's interviews with internationally renowned cultural guru, Sarah Susanka, present Susanka's cross over from remodeling homes to redesigning lives in her latest book, "The Not So Big Life: Making Room for What Really Matters." She explores the insights of the best selling author of "The Not So Big House" series of books that have changed the way Americans think about time and space.

Her photo essay on the Contemporary Face of Sacred Space, appeared as the cover article in Faith and Form: The Journal of Religion, Art and Architecture.  It presents the challenges of integrating meaningful sacred space into contemporary life using Mario Botta's Santo Volto Church in Turin and interviews with the architect.
