From Fact to Fiction

Debra was invited to read "My House of Dreams" and "Appeasing Kali" from her short story collection at the Southern Women Writer's Conference where Maya Angelou was keynote speaker.   "Six O'Clock at Eden Roc," appears in "The French Literary Review" and Cha: An Asian Literary Journal, published, Appeasing Kali (www.asiancha.com).  Both stories are from the collection.  BBC World Services Radio broadcast her short fiction globally on its short story program.

Riviera Stories is based on Debra's years as an expat on the Riviera where she met rock stars, artists, writers, soccer club owners, wealthy Monaco businessmen and women, and, of course, the French.  It weaves together the lives of twelve people searching and yearning for fame, wealth and love - from Jamal, the adolescent Moroccan working at the Hotel du Cap to Ian, the rock star who lives in his Monaco tax-haven making money but no more music and Caroline who's searching for a sense of home.  These intertwined stories set on the Cote d'Azur paint a world where things are rarely as they seem.
